Tekno Team 2000
Travis and Troy. Their names were Travis and Troy.
These two nerds, Travis and Troy, were the “tag team ahead of its time”, Tekno Team 2000. The idea was that these two were futureheads of the WWF, a tag team dead set on bringing the new era of professional wrestling to the WWF. They gained a bunch of… ‘upset’ wins over such teams as The Heavenly Bodies, Barry Horowitz and The Brooklyn Brawler, and Mantaur and Tom Pritchard. These teams may not sound very formidable, but these victories earned the team a spot in the PWI 500. (Seriously.)
For some unknown reason, the team was set to win the WWF World Tag Team Championships, but instead were sent to USWA to learn how to wrestle better. When they returned in 1996, all they did was lose all the time to teams like The Bodydonnas (the third team featuring Tom Pritchard that TT2K faced), The Smoking Gunns, and The Godwinns. Their eventual farewell came in the Summer of 1996, and they were never seen in the WWF again.
Travis pretty much disappeared forever (actually, he became a monster truck driver), but Troy set out for greener pastures. He wrestled in WCW, ECW, Japan, and eventually TNA, where he began a stable with David Flair and Brian Christopher that was composed of second generation athletes (Troy’s father is “Cowboy” Bill Watts).
